Robert’s focus for our practice is in segregated cost studies and other, engineering-related activities for clients who are acquiring or constructing buildings. The studies are performed to segregate properties with short recovery periods from the cost of the building itself, resulting in more rapid depreciation deductions. Following the assignment of relative values to the land and improvements in the transaction, Robert then determines those portions of the improvement cost to be allocated to the various recovery periods of five, seven, 15 and longer (27.5 or 39 years). In addition, Robert serves as a consulting engineer on large construction projects.
